About Data Storage

About Data Storage:

Read Only Memory (ROM)

ROM is a term in English for the computer data storage medium. ROM is one of the computer’s available memory. ROM is usually permanent, meaning the program or data stored in the ROM is not easily lost or changed even if the electricity is turned off.
Storing the data in ROM can not be done easily but read data from ROM can be done easily. Usually the program / data contained in ROM is filled by the manufacturer. Due to the nature of this ROM, usually used to store the firmware (software) that is closely related to hardware.
Read Access Memory (RAM)

RAM is a type of computer storage whose contents can be accessed in a fixed time not considering the location of the data in memory. This is in contrast to sequential memory devices such as magnetic tape, disc and drum, where the mechanical movement of storage media to force the computer to access data sequentially.
Usually RAM can be written and read, belawanan with ROM, RAM is usually used to primary storage (main memory) in a computer to use and modify the information actively. Although some tools use some kind of RAM to provide long-term secondary storage.
But there is also an opinion that the ROM is another type of RAM, because it is really too random access such as SRAM or DRAM. It’s just that indeed the process of writing the ROM requires a special process is not as easy and flexible as well as in SRAM or DRAM. In addition, some parts of the address space of RAM (main memory) of a system that is mapped into one or two chip ROM.

SD (Secure Digital)

Secure Digital is a medium sized data storage used in some multimedia devices. SD cards have a more solid form known as Flash memory. SD cards are also quite strong in terms of resistance to the magnet that can damage the memory. presence of SD card is also a competitor of MMC

MMC (Multimedia Card)

MMC is the most standard storage media. Developed by SanDisk and Siemens. The size of a postage stamp, exactly 24 mm x 32 mm x 1.5 mm. MMC is about the same shape with the SD card. only SD card connector pin number was different from the MMC. MMC is now able to load the data as much as 2 GB and even more in a single disc. MMC memory card this is the type most widely used by HP, PDA, digcam, and other gadgets.

Compact Flash

Compact Flash data storage media is used for gadgets that require memory. Compact Flash was first developed by SanDisk in 1994. Compact Flash is also quite popular in an era where a lot of memory cards already on the market. After the emergence of Compact Flash and many other types of memory cards appear as SD, MMC, which has a shape more cutesy than Compact Flash.
Hard Disk

Hard disc or hard disk drive HDD is abbreviated as a hardware component that stores the secondary data and contains a magnetic disk. Hard disc was first invented by engineer MM. Reynold Johnson ditahun 1956. The first hard disk is composed of 50 disks measuring 2 feet with materials 10.6 rotational speed reaches 1200 rpm (rotation per minute) with a storage capacity of 4.4 MB. Hard disc now there are only 0.6 cm wide with a capacity of 750 GB.
In the development of physical hard disks are now becoming increasingly thin and small but has a data capacity is very large. Hard disks is now not only be installed within the device (internal) but also can be mounted outside of the device (external) using a USB or Firewire cable.

MicroSD

MikroSD is the format for flash memory cards that can be removed from HP. SD stands for Secure Digital. Cards used in mobile phones, and GPS devices in some newer phones, portable media players, digital audio players, digital cameras, etc.. But they are not universally compatible, many Micro SD cards sold online stores and packed with standard SD adapter to use the card in devices that take standard SD cards but not MikroSD.
MicroSD available in the format of 16 Mb and 22 MB, MicroSD cards are currently available in capacities from 64 MB to 2 GB, while MicroSDHC cards are currently available in capacities of 4 GB to 64 GB (this is not the biggest MicroSD card and MicroSDHC and technology boundaries MicroSD cards with capacities greater MicroSDXC format).
